The Trillanes misadventure
I just don’t know. I may have supported his call for good governance, as what the Philippine republic needs, but I do not share his way of attaining it (unless he had another agenda when he and his mistahs hostaged the Manila Pen yesterday). Sen. Trillanes, young and idealist as he is, should have thought that since he has joined the democratic process by running and eventually winning the senatorial elections, he is to protect the people, not to expose them to danger.
On the other hand, as my friend aptly puts it, what the military did to some members of the media was indeed an overkill. Granting that they failed to respect the yellow line that the law enforcers placed to cordon off the area, I do believe it would have been proper for the authorities to just let them go after the standoff. BIMP-EAGA ministers to update dev’t road map
DAVAO CITY — Ministers from the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia- Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) have agreed to review next year the sub-region’s road map to development.
In a joint statement released at the ministerial meeting at the Marco Polo Hotel Friday, the ministers noted the 2006-2010 plan will be reviewed “to ensure that the priority projects continue to be relevant.” Read more
Creation of ICT dep’t pushed
THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry has joined the call for the creation of the Department of Information and Communications Technology that will map out plans for the industry.
Andre Fournier, trustee of the chamber of commerce, yesterday said the department is important in promoting the country as investment area for the industry, adding that this will be one of the resolutions that will be submitted to the national government. Read more
